From editorial cartoons to science-themed humor, illustrations offer a unique way to communicate complex ideas with clarity and nuance. Below are some highlights from Mirror Image, Toronto Times, and Secondcell Bio—a few of my personal favorites.

If you're a business looking for versatile and thoughtful illustration work, SLay Illustrations is available for a wide range of creative projects. You can also find Mirror Image-inspired greeting cards at the local art and craft markets where I regularly set up shop.

Stephen Lay's edgy, funny take on today's hot topics lampooning politics, fast-shifting societal mores, rampant corporate greed, and daily chaos reminds me of a day when people would open a newspaper, skip the news and head for the the comics. Stephen rocks each tiny square utilizing his talents as both gifted artist and a sharp societal commentator. The reader gets a good laugh or a stunning point of view that quickly targets what everyone is talking about. Where else would Santa Claus come screeching to a stop because he forgot his mask? Stephen Lay's World.

TO Times' editorial cartoons covered a range of pressing political issues, including municipal and provincial affairs, poverty, economics, COVID, and more, providing incisive commentary through vivid drawings.

Additionally, I created science-themed cartoons for SecondCell Bio, a biotechnology company. These cartoons utilized wordplay, wit, and illustrations to simplify complex scientific concepts, making them accessible to a wider audience.
